Submission Guidelines

"Publishing with a Purpose"
Authors must be aware that we accept only the finest writing, the most compelling stories, and projects that have a deeper purpose than financial rewards. In order to be considered for publication, please submit the finished first chapter of your work and a well-crafted book proposal that includes all of the information below, in the numbered format shown. Include your last name, page # in the header of every page.

  1. Has your book ever been published in any format at any time?
  2. Why did you write this? What motivates you to share this story?
  3. What purpose will the book serve?
  4. How is it different from other books published on this same subject? What new information or angle does your story present that hasn’t already been heard?
  5. What is the main theme of the story, as you see it now? What are the secondary themes?
  6. Who is your audience? Be specific. Define your primary and secondary markets.
  7. How will this work impact that audience? What change do you want to invoke in the reader?
  8. Why will others want to read this story? Will they recommend it to others?
  9. Write a Purpose Statement for the book that begins with, “The purpose of this book is to …” and list the primary and secondary purposes that you have identified.
  10. Write a two- to three-paragraph synopsis of the book.
  11. Write the copy that you envision appearing on the back cover of the book.
  12. Are you prepared to make a cash investment in the project? The typical investment is between $6,000 and $10,000, and you will receive 50% of the profits from your book.
  13. Include any additional information about the book you would like to communicate.

If you have never written a book proposal, please do some research before you complete your submission. When your first chapter and the book proposal are complete, email the packet to publisher@stonebrookpublishing.net with "Book Proposal" in the subject line of the email.

All submissions must follow the above format in order to be evaluated. Please be sure your submission conforms to the guidelines.

We look forward to seeing your work!
